St John's Emergency Response Visit

Last week we had a visit from Tira the St John's educator.  She taught us how best to respond to an emergency.

The acronym for helping in an accident is Drs ABCD

D dangers - check for dangers and eliminate them
R response - check for a response from the patient
S send for help - get some one to go for help
A airways - check for objects and a clear airway
B breathing - look, listen, feel
C commence CPR if able
D defibrillator if available.

We practiced bandaging a wound:

Calling 111:

Putting someone in the recovery position:

 and CPR.

These are all important skills to keep on top of and helping in an emergency!
Remember to keep calm 😎
