St John Emergency Training 2018
Today we had St John educators in to teach us about emergency responses. Check out our personal blogs for an explanation of the 4 activities and parts to the programme.
We learnt about ABC and resuscitation if a person is unresponsive and unconscious. It was amazing how much we already knew and how many people have had to call 111 before! The St Johns service is an incredible public service and they certainly have a difficult job to do!
I am sure that students from Makaraka will have the knowledge to help in an emergency and can show empathy and maturity in dealing with tough situations! Kia Kaha!

Ice Skating 11/04
We had our first ice skating session this morning! It was as cold as real ice! Thanks Gisborne for the cold snap! We found it challenging at first but after a short while had a good handle on it! Some of us even got the hang of gliding and really skating! Robin the instructor was super impressed and said he'd have to step it up on the next lesson!
Watch out for the herald as Rebecca and her photographer were here to take photos!
Two of our students - Leah and Georgia were on Bevan for Breakfast today to promote the ice skating tour!
A video of our first musical statues game!
Here is Bevan's 1st post!
Making Anzac Biscuits
Today we made ANZAC Biscuits as part of our ANZAC study. I wonder what the history is of ANZAC Biscuits? Read our individual blog posts to find out!
A fun morning's work!
We made observations around look, smell, taste and feel and have wrapped a little present to take home to share with our families.
A fun morning's work!

Goals of the Week
Here are my goals for Term 1. Each week we write goals and reflect on the last week's goals. We try to achieve our goals each week and if we haven't we can use them again. We also reflect on a quote which helps us to set goals. The quotes have a message for how we should be working.
